30th SeptemberWe finally got the keys for 10 Lower Gilmore Place on Friday and have spent the past few days in the Centre clearing the debris left behind by the previous tenants and preparing for decorating. Classes are continuing at 40 Leamington Terrace for this week, but should be at Lower Gilmore Place w/c 6th October. Having finally got into our new home we are all still very excited about the oportunities opened up to us by the move and very daunted by the amount of work to be done. If you have any time to offer it would be much appreciated. There will be working parties there most days between now and Monday and most evenings too. Please get in touch if you can help out, or just stop by. Even someone to make the tea would be appreciated (if we ever find our kettle....). Thanks to all those who've been along so far. There was more office stationery left behind than we could ever use, especially things like lever arch files, box files, plastic wallets sage accounting stationery... Let us know if you'd like some. 20th September 2008Classes will continue at Leamnington Terrace for the next week, until 26th September. The negotiations for our new premises have been much more long drawn out and difficult than we anticipated, but we hope that they will draw to a conclusion early next week and the big clean out and decorate can begin. Many thanks for all your offers of help, we'll be in touch soon. 6th September 2008As a temporary measure, from 7th September classes will be held at 40 Leamington Terrace29th August 2008We regret that, due to our move, we have had to cancel classes from 1st to 7th September.26th August 2008The lease on our premises at St Peters Place expires at the end of August. We had hoped to renew it for another year but unfortunately we were not able to negotiate an agreement with the landlord that the BRC directors felt they could sign in the best interests of the centre and our users. Therefore we need to vacate our current home by the end of the month. Fortunately, in the past few days, we have had an offer accepted on new premises in the area in Lower Gilmore Place.There is a lot we need to do to transform the space into a place into which we will be happy to welcome women and their families. We had hoped to close in St Peters Place on Friday 29th August and open in Lower Gilmore Place on Monday 1st September without any disruption to classes and groups. However, this is not going to be possible and we have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel all classes and groups for the week commencing 1st September. As you can imagine this is a huge undertaking for us, and most of the work will be done by volunteers. We would appreciate any help you, your partner or your friends etc can offer with the move or with refurbishing the new building from now until 7th September and beyond. If you can offer any help please get in touch. We are especially in need of short term storage space from 30th August onwards. If you can help by storing anything from a few boxes of books to sofas, book cases or birth pools, please get in touch. We apologise for giving such late notice about the move and the cancellation of our activities and hope that it does not inconvenience you too greatly. We hope you will bear with us in the next few weeks as we settle into our new home. |
